11/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Big L was brought in without information on his behavioral tendencies in his previous home. He lived in a home with many cats. He was fearful during his initial medical exam and attempted to flee. Please note that Big L is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Big L was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Big L looks at the assessor, and then he turns his head and averts his gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Big L slowly gets up and backs away. Reaction to touch: Big L was hesitant and attempts to shift away to avoid contact. He sniffs the assessor’s hand allows gentle petting with a slow approach, but remained tense throughout the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Big L tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
