Their owner surrendered them because she recently had twins who were highly allergic to the cats. These sweethearts have been at the shelter for a while now and frankly we cannot understand why someone hasn’t scooped them up and taken them home. They are a bonded pair and should go together. Now they have a kitty cold and the ACC says they must go now!! PLEASE OPEN YOUR HOME TO THESE SWEET SENIORS TONIGHT – YOU WILL BE REWARDED WITH DOUBLE THE ENDLESS PURRS AND KITTY CUDDLES – MUST RESERVE BY NOON!!!

Hello, my name is Beyonce. My animal id is #10713. I am a female black tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 13 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 25-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.
Beyonce is a geriatric girl who at risk due to an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. She will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no behavior concerns for her at this time (Average determination). She came in with her sibling, Jay Z, and they enjoy spending time together – but they also remain social on their own and can be adopted together or separately.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: Reported 13 years old – exam is consistent with a cat 8-15 years old Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned neg on intake History : Surrendered with 1 other cat Subjective: Calm, sits on exam table, looks around Observed Behavior – Allows all handling, moves slowly Objective BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Moderate tartar and gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female, reported unspayed MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: Dental disease Prognosis: Good Plan: Recommend dental cleaning in the near future, and then daily tooth brushing to keep teeth healthy SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to age 1088
[Spay/Neuter Waiver – Age] It is the policy of ACC not to perform surgery on any animal over the age of 8-10 years due to the higher risks incurred in a shelter setting. The veterinarian is hereby issuing a permanent spay/neuter waiver, from the spay/neuter requirements of the City of NY due to the estimated age of this animal. ACC does recommend you consult with your veterinarian to determine if surgical sterilization is appropriate.

Basic Information:: Beyonce is a 13 year old spayed domestic short hair. The owner got Beyonce in July of 2005 from a Petco. The owner is surrendering because she recently had twins who are severely allergic to cats and started breaking out into hives. Beyonce’s last vet visit was in July of this year, she went in for routine vaccines.
Previously lived with:: 2 adults, 4 children, and a litter mate.
How is this cat around strangers?: Beyonce is initially shy around strangers but then she warms up and is very friendly.
How is this cat around children?: Beyonce is relaxed and affectionate with children, always playing gently.
How is this cat around other cats?: Beyonce has lived her whole life with her litter mate and she is relaxed and respectful with him. Beyonce and her litter mate do everything together.
How is this cat around dogs?: Beyonce has never been around dogs.
Behavior Notes: Beyonce initially meows when she is in a car but then she settles down and is relaxed. Beyonce meows when she is bathed but then she calms down. The owner has not recently cut Beyonce’s nails. Beyonce is not bothered when she is brushed or when she is picked up and held. Beyonce meows when she is put into a carrier but then she relaxes after a bit. The owner has never disturbed Beyonce while she sleeps.
Bite history:: Beyonce has never bitten or scratched another animal or a person.

For a New Family to Know: The owner describes Beyonce as shy and friendly. The owner’s favorite thing about Beyonce is how she sleeps at the foot of her son’s bed. Beyonce’s favorite thing to do is play with toys. When the owner is home, Beyonce stays in her favorite spot along with her litter mate, Jay Z. Beyonce likes to play with wand toys. Beyonce has been kept indoors only. Beyonce sleeps in the owner’s son’s bed with him, at the foot of the bed. Beyonce is fed Blue Buffalo grain free dry food, 1 cup twice a day. Beyonce likes Temptations treats. Beyonce uses a covered litter box with crystal litter. Beyonce scratches on a cat tower she has at home, it is made out of rough rope and cardboard.

Reaction to assessor:: Beyonce looks neutral, lying down in her cage bedding during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Beyonce becomes alert with normal shape eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Beyonce remains immobile in place, ears relaxed and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Beyonce leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates the petting on the head and body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Allows the pickup and remains calm.
