SAFE 2/1/18 – 1-Year Old BEBE! Average Behavior, Left Hind Leg Lameness Needs You at BACC!

Bebe 15025 – 1 yr. neutered black/white cat: – Intake 1/28/18

KNOWN HISTORY:
Patt was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
Friendly
Cage Condition:
Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:
Patt was relaxed and lying down on his bedding near the back of the cage.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Patt’s ears perk up and he rolls around playfully when spoken to softly.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Patt lip licks then lowers his body.
Reaction to touch:
Patt lip licks and seems a bit hesitant when approached. He keeps his tail tucked at his side and squints when touched on his head. After a few soft pets he starts to open, build confidence then comes forward and solicits attention. His tail rises and he allows petting all over.
Reaction to being picked up:
Patt was a bit tense when picked up, but he remains calm and allows all handling.

Subjective: Cat is BARH

Observed Behavior – Seems friendly, but resents palpation of left forelimb and left hindlimb, begins growling and seems like he would escalate to higher aggression if pushed. Suspect observed behavior is pain related.

Evidence of Cruelty seen – no

Evidence of Trauma seen – no

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted, alopecia (old scar?) nasal planum
Oral Exam: Healthy adult dentition
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: appears recently neutered; fur growing back
MSI: Varies between NWB and toe-touching LHL – resents palpation, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, appears to have scab on lateral aspect left forelimb – also resents palpation of this limb; unable to appreciate any significant heat or swelling on brief palpation
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: not performed

Assessment: Lameness LHL, Possible wound LFL

Prognosis:
Good

Plan: Gave 0.44mLs Simbadol SQ for pain. Keep in medical. Plan to sedate later today or tomorrow for palpation/further assessment of LFL and LHL.
