I am a male black domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 5 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/04/2017 from NY 10458, owner surrender reason stated was INAD FACIL. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-099614.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, Independent MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/5/17- Observed Behavior – very nervous, will flee ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/5/17- Fleas, alopecia. Curled up at back, behind bedding. Eyes dilated, head low. Flinched briefly when pet, then held immobile, eyes darting. 6/6/17- At back behind bedding, eyes dilated, ears sideways. Started retreating when door opened. Backed away attempted touch, then froze and tolerated pets along body. Tried to flee when pet on head. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Bay remains crouched position, head tucked during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Bay remains tense body, tail tucked, alert starring. Reaction to touch: Bay accepts a brief touch then becomes agitated, swatting and hissing at the assessor’s hand. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Bay is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
