Nose: serous nasal d/c, fur loss around nares and front paws from wiping, sneezing–presumed uri
Teeth: deciduous
If abnormal BCS: WNL 5/9, slightly distended abdomen
Skin: WNL
Hair Coat: unkempt but WNL
Declawed: no
Any injuries: no
Behavior: allowed handling
Medication: N/A, preventatives given

Estimated age: 6 weeks based on dentition

History : Stray kitten, no mom
Subjective: Alert, mews, walks out of carrier, allows all handling
Objective
BAR, BCS 4.5/9, MMs pink
EENT: Mucoid ocular discharge, serous nasal discharge. Moderate black granular discharge AU.
Oral Exam: Deciduous incisors, canines and PMs present and clean
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Slightly distended, non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Male intact kitten
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, flea dirt seen. Crusty eye and ear discharge on front legs and hind feet. No masses noted.
CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Assessment:
1. URI and conjunctivitis
2. Likely ear mites
Plan:
1. Cleaned ears and instilled Tresaderm; clean ears q3 days and give Tresaderm AU BID x10 days
2. Doxycycline 0.2 ml PO SID x10 days
3. Erythromycin ophth ointment OU BID x10 days
Prognosis: Good

Recheck URI/conjunctivitis, day 5 treatment

Enrichment
Underage kitten with URI, hair loss around nose. Sitting up towards front, soft eyes and body, nose actively running. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, sat calmly when held.
