11/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Barbara has lived with 2 adults, was shy around strangers and could take a couple minutes to warm up to them. She has never been around children or dogs but she has lived with a male cat and was respectful and playful with him. Barbara likes to be brushed and will struggle when attempting to be picked up. Her owner describes her as an independent and aloof cat. She likes to play independently with her string and chasing toys. Reaction to assessor: Barbara was at the front of the kennel looking out at her surroundings. Reaction when softly spoken to: Barbara moves back her eyes widen, her ears rotate and she becomes alert. Reaction to cage door opening: Barbara lip licks and remains still. Reaction to touch: Barbara lifts her head up and immediately focuses on her surroundings. She allows petting along her body but she seems more interested in exploring around. Her body feels a bit tense and her tail sways back and forth the more you interact with her. She would occasionally lip licks and focus on the assessor’s hand when rubbed along her back. Reaction to being picked up: Barbara lowers her body and slowly inches away trying to avoid being picked up. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Barbara tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
