***SAFE 02/22/17*** BARAK IS POSSIBLY BLIND – The shelter sent this plea out today ” I would like to introduce the handsome BARACK! This 12 year young man came is in as an owner surrender- but we do not have much information on him. His coat is a little rough but with some TLC he will be one handsome man! We do believe he is blind as well. ” BARACK is one of 15 cats that came in together when owner died.

I am a neutered male brn tabby domestic sh. The shelter thinks I am about 12 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 02/16/2017 from NY 11101, owner surrender reason stated was OWNER DIED. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-088366.

02/18/2017 Exam Type OBSERVATION – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 6.8 LBS.

Blood work results 2/17: CBC Moderate leukocytosis (27.70 K/uL) characterized by a moderate neutrophilia (19.33 K/uL) with left shift and mild monocytosis (1.47 K/uL). Mild anemia (29.6) and marked thrombocytopenia (38 K/uL). All other results WNL. Chem Mild increase in globulins (5.6 g/dL). All other results WNL. Assessment: Abnormalities in blood work likely due to chronic disease (dental infection and inflammation). Thrombocytopenia – R/O immune mediated vs bone marrow neoplasia, vs platelet clumping Plan: No treatment indicated at this time. Continue to monitor while at BACC. Poor long term prognosis 02/17/17 CAGE EXAM – ROUNDS OS EPIPHORA, MUCOUS, BLETHOROSPASM, NO MENACE RESPONSE, +PLR OU — APPEARS BLIND EATING AND DRINKING WELL, NO URI APPEARENCE NO DEFECT READILY APPARENT TO CORNEA CONTINUE WORKUP DESCRIBED BELOW, ADD EYE STAIN TREAT TOPICALLY IF POSSIBLE (BEGIN ERYTHROMYCIN) ——INTAKE 2/16——- MC-981020015837606 02/16/17 Microchip scan neg.
