Baby is a 9 year old altered male Brown tabby DSH mix. He came to her home as a stray and was surrendered due to the owner having too many pets and moving out of state. He has no known health issues or injures and has no recent vet history.
Around Strangers Baby is shy and will hide or run away. He has lived with other cats and is relaxed but keeps to himself and has no bite history. Baby was described as Aloof, independent and mellow with a medium activity level. He was feed wet and dry food twice a day and is litter boxed trained with an uncovered box with tidy cats no clumping litter. Baby does have a vertical scratching post made of carpet and wood.
Upon intake Baby was hissing when the counselor tried to approach, he ran out of the crate and had to be netted and placed in a carrier he was swatting and biting at the net.
ENRICHMENT:
08/23/17
Sitting crouched in back of kennel, hissing as I approach. He vocalizes when spoken to. Comes forward when I open the kennel door, continuing to hiss, and leans in for petting when touched on the head. Warms up immediately when touched and allows petting along his head and body, beginning to purr. Head-butts my chest and arms. Sweet – allows all petting for the remainder of the session. More relaxed after session has ended – sits in front of his kennel with a soft body and begins to purr when spoken to. Head-butts kennel door. Conflicted behavior. Has potential to warm up! Sprayed feliway.
