Azalea came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Azalea did not allow handling. Reaction to assessor: Azalea is hiding in his den with wide eyes, ears flat. Reaction when softly spoken to: Azalea is stress yowling. Reaction to cage door opening: Azalea hisses, yowls. Reaction to touch: Azalea moves away to avoid being touched, but allows petting without becoming fractious. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Azalea does not approach the assessor and appears fearful, but is tolerant of some handling. Azalea is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents with no children who can allow him adequate adjustment time to a new home environment.
