BASIC INFORMATION: Ashes is a gray DSH neutered male, 15yr old cat. He was found as a stray 15 yrs ago and is geriatric. Ashes has been surrendered to ACC due to owner no longer able to care for Ashes in the home they reside in. SOCIALIZATION: Ashes is unbothered by strangers and is tolerant when strangers pet him. Ashes has resided with another cat and seemed playful. Ashes gets along with other cats. Ashes has not been exposed to dogs. He has not bitten or scratched another animal or a person within the past 10 days. BEHAVIOR: Ashes is very mellow & loves company & receive attention . He may give a struggle to place him inside of carrier. When Ashes is asleep and is disturbed he is unbothered by it. Ashes will randomly urinate/defecate outside of the litter box in different areas of the home. This behavior started approximately 2 months ago. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Ashes is best described as a mellow & friendly cat. He has a medium to low activity level. When owner is home, Ashes follows owner around the house. Ashes would do best in a family or single person home. He has been kept indoors only. He enjoys sleeping on the couch or on owners. Ashes eats wet food from any brand. Ashes is litter box trained. He uses a covered litter box and uses cay litter. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Ashes appeared to be relaxed in the carrier. Once Ashes was taken out of carrier and became shy & displayed a low tense body. After counselor handled carefully he allowed all handling & scanned negative.

As per previous owners, Ashes isn’t bothered by strangers and is tolerant when they pet him. He lived with another cats and got along well with them. Ashes is mellow and loves company and receiving attention. He will randomly urinate/defecate outside of the litter box in different areas of the home. His owners best describe him as a mellow and friendly cat with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Ashes was relaxed on his blanket near the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ashes is curious and leans forward trying to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Ashes is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Ashes leans forward and lightly head butts the assessor. He allows petting all over and appreciates attention. Reaction to being picked up: Ashes tense when held and curled up in the assessor’s arms. Behavior Determination: Average Ashes interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
