01/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Artsy does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Artsy does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Artsy slowly retreats Reaction to touch: Artsy leans away from touch Try picking cat up: Artsy is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience Artsy was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick her up and although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Additional notes: Artsy has not shown any aggression but is highly fearful of interaction and tolerates touch but does not seem comfortable with it. She tenses and backs away when interaction is attempted. She is not thriving in this environment and it is in her best interest to move into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
