Safe - 3-23-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
*** SAFE 03/23/16 *** NEW HOPE NEEDED! Arrow is a 5-year-old stray who is possibly pregnant, who possibly suffers from pyometra, and who definitely dies tomorrow! This sweet girl is SO stressed at the shelter, one of her teeth came out when she bit one of her “handlers;” another tooth was so loose that the AC wiggled it out. It won’t be the TOOTH FAIRY coming for her tomorrow afternoon, it will be the DEATH SQUAD! Please pledge toward her care, please share her sad story, and if YOU can give her a home? Please email [email protected] so our volunteers can guide you through the process tonight!

03/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Arrow was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She hissed and attempted to swat upon intake, so no handling was done to help reduce her stress level. She also displayed distance-increasing behavior during her initial medical exam. Reaction to Assessor: Arrow lies low against the ground by the back and feint sleeps. Reaction when softly spoken to: Arrow ignores the assessor and averts her gaze. Reaction to cage door opening: Arrow becomes stiff and alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Arrow remains tense and slowly attempts to shift away from the assessor’s hand to avoid contact. She hisses when hand was extended and looks for the chance to flee. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Arrow is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
