Argos has some dental issues which will need follow up care. Please give this handsome senior boy a home.

Negative on intake, MC placed History : Stray Subjective: Alert Observed Behavior – Tense, allows full exam, swatting and growling upon attempt at blood draw Objective BAR, mm pink, BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears – thick, dark brown discharge AU, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: several missing teeth, gingivitis and calculus present PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Tense, non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Intact male, two scrotal testicles MSI: Ambulatory x 4, flea dirt and live fleas present, no masses noted, fur matted along dorsum CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Externally normal Assessment: 1. Fleas 2. Matting 3. Suspect ear mites 4. Dental disease Plan: 1. ectoparasite treatment 2. Shaved most severe mats 3. Clean ears at time of neuter, Tresaderm AU BID x 7 days 4. Recommend dental procedure 5. Needs combo test at time of surgery – unable to draw blood due to temperament Prognosis: Good with treatment SURGERY: Okay for surgery

Reportedly vomited kibble and had episode of diarrhea S/O -QAR, docile, allows handling -good appetite -appears to be drinking a lot of water, bowl is almost empty and does not appear to be spilled in cage -mm pk, tacky; CRT <2 sec -no nasal discharge or sneezing -OU: open and clear, geriatric changes to iris/lens -eupnic -abdomen slightly tense, nonpainful; no palpable abnormalities A 1. Geriatric 2. Vomiting/diarrhea-r/o stress vs parasites vs chronic GI vs other 3. Azotemia, mild-r/o dehydration vs mild renal disease P -100 ml SQF SID x 3 days -fortiflora SID x 7 days -monitor for continued diarrhea/vomiting

S/O: No reported V/D today and no evidence in kennel. Ate soft food.BAR – Resisted handling. A/P: Benign neglect.

Hx one episode of vomiting and diarrhea. Concern was noted on the Symptoms Log that pt might be constipated. No symptom given. S: Bright and alert in kennel. Good appetite. No vomiting reported. There is stool in the kennel and it is firm but not rock-hard. Drinks water readily when it is put in front of him O: BAR, estimated 5% dehydrated. EENT: No coughing or sneezing, or nasal or ocular discharge. Abd: Soft, nonpainful M/S/I: Ambulatory, many shaved regions on the dorsum A: Possible PU/PD and dehydration P: Evaluate bloodwork, consider repeating bloodwork vs. taking rads 1088

No obvious urinary calculi. Left kidney appears subjectively rounder than right. Right kidney subjectively dilation of renal pelvis (vs wnl) +/- renoliths. Ingesta present in stomach and fecal material in colon including discrete triangular mineral density material. V/d loss of detail cranial right quadrant. NO obv masses in visulaized portion of thorax on abd rad.

Sedated for rads and bloodwork Dexdomitor 0.5 mg/ml 0.3 ml IM. Cat vomited what appeared to be recently ingested food. Cat urinated on table into tray beneath table, only test that could be obtained was strip dipped in urine. oral exam few missing teeth others mild to mod tartar and gingivitis LRS 150 ml sq Reversed with Antisedan 0.3 ml IM. Recovery uneventful.

Cat would not eat rx renal diets offered. Ate friskies shredded beef very well. 7 pm 1U Humalin N sq Recheck BG am and adjust dose.

Recheck in medical for hyperglycemia/diabetes, recheck BG: S/O: QARH, eating ok this AM – BG 206 – no c/s no v/d observed this AM – amb x 4, soft abd, obese, patches of thinning hair/alopecia A: improving hyperglycemia, stable contidition P: cont. on 1 unit Humulin-N insulin, monitor BG/attitude/appetite and adjust dose as needed

Blood sample obtained to run IH CBC and chemistry- RHL medial saphenous vein used for sample with a 23g butterfly needle and syringe. Could not import bloodwork into SB due to technical error, however, reported to 1382.

Asked to do another urinalysis by 1328 after collecting urine this evening. Notable: BLD/HGB 3+ LEU 3+ GLU 4+ All other readings (BIL, UBG, KET, PRO) were unremarkable. pH read between 6-7. Sample is saved in small black fridge if further testing needed. –1429

Argos was tolerant and soft-bodied while I pet him, scanned him (-), collared him, and picked him up. On the counter, he lied down and looked around. In his kennel, he ate his wet food.
If yes, Please elaborate:: Argos is a senior cat who was brought to ACC as a stray.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Argos was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 1/21/18 Observed Behavior – Tense, allows full exam, swatting and growling upon attempt at blood draw
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Resting on bedding in main compartment, soft eyes and body. Started meowing on approach, then stood and came to the front, sniffed hand between bars. Stayed in place when door opened, leaned into pets, purred, ate offered treats.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Argos remains neutral, resting on his cage bedding during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Argos remains soft and relaxed with normal shape eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Argos stands with tail up, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Argos leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs while enjoying chin rubs and appreciates the petting.
Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back
VOCAL:: Quiet
