ARCHIE – A1068161
Safe - 3-26-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 03/26/16** SCARED TO DEATH, unless a NEW HOPE rescue steps up! Poor ARCHIE was found near some bushes in the Bronx Zoo only a few days ago, and his life has been one incessant nightmare since then. Look closely at his photo; this is a cat with character, but under the tremendous STRESS of being at the shelter, that character has disintegrated into a miasma of fear. That NEW HOPE rating means that only a rescue can pull him to safety tonight, but in order for that to happen, they need people who are willing to FOSTER/ADOPT. If YOU can be that person, please email [email protected] so our volunteers can guide you through the process. Everyone else, please share his story and pledge toward his rescue. The extent to which Archie’s life depends on each person who sees this thread, can NOT be overestimated. Please help Archie tonight!

03/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/21/16 12:39 Archie A1068161 is a young male brown tabby DSH feline who was found near some shrubbery in the Bronx Zoo. They don’t keep cats that are found so Archie was brought in. The finder stated Archie was nervous when approached but walked into the carrier on his own once canned food was placed inside. Initially Archie was nervous and had a low body posture but allowed to be transferred from the carrier into the kennel and scanned (-). We then attempted to remove Archie from the kennel to be collared, taken a picture of and examined however he began to hiss and swat. Due to these behaviors we were unable to collar or take his picture on the back drop.

03/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Archie looks tense in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Archie remains hiding in his cat den, body held tightly, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Archie does not allow the stroke, bites the assessor’s hand and growls. Placement determination: NH ONLY Archie is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
