ANGOLA – A1077266
Safe - 6-29-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 06/29/16** NINE MONTHS OLD! Beautiful ANGOLA is a gorgeous baby girl who was taken to the shelter with 3 other cats. The entire group was surrendered as “strays” but many a stray has gone on to make a perfect, purring house pet! Angola earned a wonderful EXPERIENCE rating from the ACC, but take a moment to review her evaluation notes. They paint a picture of a kitten who is quick to warm up to people, and just needs somewhere to feel safe. A foster/adopter is all that stands between Angola, and a deadly injection tomorrow, and as of right this minute, NO ONE has stepped up for her. Make sure to advocate widely for ANGOLA, tonight!

06/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Angola and at the time she allowed petting all over. Angola lightly rubs up and comes out of her shell. Reaction to assessor: Angola does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Angola does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Angola remains motionless Reaction to touch: Angola seems indifferent to my presence at first but soon starts to lean in for chin rubs Try picking cat up: Angola is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. When placed back in the cage she retreats towards the back of the cage Behavior Detemination: Experience Angola was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick her up and although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
