*** SAFE 04/29/16*** AN “ANGEL” SHOULDN’T HAVE TO GO THRU HELL!! But that’s exactly what’s happening to ANGEL tonight!! Her former people have jettisoned her for some incident which is unknown. They also never bothered to spay her or it appears spend a lot of time with her. ANGEL is a bit on the defensive side and one can only deduce that there were actions in the home that made her feel that way…..CAN WE GET A LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN FOR ANGEL TONIGHT?? This is a lovely little girl who needs some time, patience, TLC and a RESPECTFUL environment!! ANGEL is NEW HOPE rated only. Please contact a NEW HOPE rescue if you are interested in FOSTERING or ADOPTING. If you need assistance, please email us at [email protected] We would love to see a “heavenly” pull for ANGEL tonight!!

04/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/16/16 17:31 Angel is an 8 year old orange tabby domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered due to an incident in the home. Angel has been in the home since she was a kitten. Angel lived with 2 adults, 2 small children and 2 teenagers. There were no other animals in the home. Angel has been exposed to a dog in the home Angel was defensive towards it with swatting and hissing. When visitors come to the home she may greet them with rubbing around their ankles but may be defensive to petting and could possibly scratch for this (not within 10 days). She uses a closed litter box with feline pine but requires the owner keep it tidy. Angel will struggle for a bath and has not had a nail brushed. She will not tolerate brushing and usually does not like to be picked up. She is defensive to going into a cat carrier but does not mind a car ride once in it. Angel had a vertical scratching post made of rough rope which she did not use. She likes leather and cardboard materials so may scratch purses and shoes or boxes. She likes to play swat and chase with ball toys. When the family is home she likes to be where they are. When home alone she is well behaved. She enjoys dry food. Upon intake Angel was not handled. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) but did not collar and photograph.

04/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Angel has lived with 2 adults, 2 children and 2 teenagers. Angel has been introduced to a dog in the home and would swat and hiss in defense. When strangers come over she may greet them by rubbing against their ankles or possibly swat at them in defense. She enjoys play with ball toys and likes to play swat. Angel has been monitored by the enrichment facilitator and reports that when she first arrived she would swat, bite and allowed no contact. Slowly she has warmed up and will solicit attention but still gets agitated and could lash out. Reaction to assessor: Angel is alert at the back of the kennel and makes contact. Reaction when softly spoken to: Angel is curious leaning forward but doesn’t come to the front. Reaction to cage door opening: Angel meows softly. Reaction to touch: Angel comes forward with eye dilated and focused on the assessor. She sniffs the assessor’s hand, head butts and leans in for attention. She allows petting all over and meows loudly. Angel quickly becomes agitated and will hiss and swat when she’s had enough. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Angel is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She allows petting but quickly becomes agitated and has tried to swat. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time
