Safe - 3-6-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: All Sentient Beings Please honor your pledges: http://animalloversnetwork.org/
***SAFE 03/06/16*** RIDICULOUS! Handsome AMSTERDAM is only 18 months old, but he’s already been adopted and returned to the ACC, TWICE! His most recent excuse for “owners” described him as “friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, and talkative with a low activity level” and mentioned that he ignored a large dog in the home….but why did they bring him back to the shelter? “Attack people.” Are we looking at a case of “liar, liar, pants on fire?” Entered into evidence is this GLOWING staff note: “A staff member writes: Amsterdam is a stellar cat that wants to be the star of your life! This black and white looker will reach out of his kennel to grab your attention and soak up all of your affection. He would love to go to a home where he is the only cat and where he can share all the love he has to give with you. Come on down to scritch this cute boy today!” He sounds like a GOOD BOY who has been messed around too much by uncaring people! Only a NEW HOPE RESCUE can pull Amsterdam to safety, tonight!

02/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Amsterdam is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, and talkative with a low activity level. When at home Amsterdam will follow around his owners and likes to play with balls and string. Amsterdam has spent time with other cats and is affectionate and relaxed around them. He previously lived with two small children and was tolerant when interacting with them. Amsterdam has a hard time adjusting to new environments and would become very fearful. He gets aroused and will use his claws to play. The enrichment facilitator monitored him and reported that he was confident and solicits attention from inside the kennel but would retreat when interacting with him. Reaction to assessor: Amsterdam is calm, relaxed and rubbing against the kennel door. Reaction when softly spoken to: Amsterdam makes eye contact with the assessor and reaches out with paws. Reaction to cage door opening: Amsterdam retreats to the back of the kennel. Reaction to touch: Amsterdam allows petting all over and has wide eyes focused on all movements. He tilts his head forward allowing cheek rubs. His tail starts to flicker and gently guides the assessor’s hands towards his mouth to nip with light pressure. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Amsterdam tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
