Hello, my name is Amber. My animal id is #14434. I am a male brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 8 months old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 22-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal health – will need ongoing vet care.
Amber is at risk for medical reasons. Amber has multiple fractures to his pelvis.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 6-8 m Microchip noted on Intake? n History : hit by car 4 days ago Subjective: + withdrawal and sensory of hindlimbs. blood seen on bedding after exam—unsure of source (microchip vs bloody urine?) Observed Behavior -purring, allows full exam Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -yes Objective T = P =200 R =purring BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: clean teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: intact male MSI: somewhat ambulatory, drags legs, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: radiographs show fracture of left femoral neck and several pelvic fracture (left ilium, pubis,coxfemoral also affected) Prognosis: good with appropriate care Plan: pain control with onsior and simbadol surgery is needed, but full recovery possible SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to pelvis fracture

Amber is eating and defecating. Did not observe straining in litterbox today for defecation. Continue simbodol and lactulose for ease of defecation. rec: fho left, +/- repair right ilial luxation ADDENDUM: straining and crying, but did have some stool. continue lactulose and adding gabapentin po bid
blood in what I suspect is in stool along with normal stool. Lactulose working. Adding in gabapentin for additional pain control
Hx: HBC, multiple pelvic fractures and L femoral neck fx; currently on simbadol, gabapentin, lactulose S/O -QAR, docile, very affectionate; allows all handling -social eater -mm pk, moist -no nasal discharge -OU: open and clear -purring loudly on auscultation -soft, slightly doughy abdomen -ambulatory, non weight bearing lameness on LH but toe touches when standing -seems painful, twitches tail and muscle spasms along hind end -anal tone appears intact A HBC, pelvic fx, femoral neck fx (L) P restart onsior 6 mg PO SID x 3 days continue other medications recommend transport ASAP to orthopedic surgeon for stabilization of pelvic fx +/- L FHO
Blood was seen in Amber’s litterbox along with some formed stool. DVM advised. Patient is receiving Lactulose.

upon intake, Amber allowed to be taken out of carrier, she was purring, and allowed counselor to place her on table for intake photo. she allowed counselor to collar and scan. she walked into the carrier on her own.
Basic Information:: Amber was brought in due to her being injured. Amber was living in a mechanic shop so there is not alot of background on her.
How is this cat around strangers?: Amber is friendly with strangers and rubs up against them.
How is this cat around children?: Amber has not been around children so behavior is unknown.
How is this cat around other cats?: Amber has briefly been around other cats but does not interact with them
How is this cat around dogs?: Amber has not been around dogs so behavior is unknown

Medical Notes: She can not put pressure on her back legs. She was possibly hit by a car three days ago.
For a New Family to Know: She is described as friendly, affectionate, and playful. The owner has not tried bathing her, trimming of nails. She allows to be picked up and held and will allow to be placed in carrier. She sleeps inside the shop and ate dry food friskies.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -purring, allows full exam
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Amber was resting upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Amber wakes and stretches out her limbs. She looks at the assessor with soft eyes, and then starts to knead.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Amber remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Amber head-butts once touched and meows very softly, purring. She continues to knead and her body is soft throughout the interaction.
Reaction to being picked up:: Did not attempt due to injury.
