I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 05/18/2016 from NY 11413, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-057874.

Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Amazon and at the time she was inside feral den. Amazon hisses when she makes eye contact. When attempted to make contact she attempted to swat. Not interested in treats. Reaction to assessor: Amazon was hiding in the cat den when I approach cage When spoken quietly: Amazon continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening: Amazon becomes stiff and alert Reaction to touch: Amazon hisses, strikes and does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: Did not attempt to pick the cat up Behavior Determination: NewHope Amazon was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment Glyn was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. Amazon is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
