***SAFE 09/08/17***A SECOND CHANCE FOR BEGINNER RATED AND FELV POSITIVE ALLIE IS A SWEET KITTEN WHO NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT!! Allie came into the Care Center with bites of unknown origin. She will need to be quarantined at a vet clinic or can be quarantined in a home with permission from DOH in the 5 boroughs. If leaving the 5 boroughs, quarantine MUST be approved by the receiving city or township DOH. Please note, the 5 boroughs are easier for in home quarantine.
Poor Allie has a mass in her mouth, a URI, conjunctivitis, fever, and cannot eat. She was also reported to be FELV+. Allie needs immediate medical care and rescue. Despite the severe jaw infection she is friendly and easy to handle.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/21/17- Subjective: Sits still, allows handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/23/17 Dozing in cat bed, soft eyes and body. Lay in place when door opened, leaned into pets, purred, closed eyes. Super sweet. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Allie remains neutral, lying down on her cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to door opening: Allie stands at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Allie head bunts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to being picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Allie interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 3 months based on weight and dentition Microchip noted on Intake? History : Reported to be FeLV positive. Subjective: Sits still, allows handling Objective T = 106.3 P = R = BCS 3/9 EENT: Mild mucoid ocular discharge. Mild mucoid nasal discharge. Clean ears. Oral Exam: Large firm mass in right cheek/mandible – buccal and labial mucosa in this region are distended and grey. Mouth smells necrotic. H/L: Tachycardic. Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female, presumed intact MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Assessment: 1. Large intraoral mass, R/O osteomyelitis vs. osteosarcoma vs. SCC vs. other 2. Underweight – can’t eat 3. Severe fever! 4. URI/conjunctivitis Plan 1. Place IVC, start LRS 4 ml/hr 2. Give hydromorphone 2 mg/ml 0.06 ml IM/IV now 3. Run CBC/chemistry 4. Start Simbadol 0.15 ml SQ SID x10 days at midnight 5. Start ampicillin 250 mg/ml 0.15 ml IV q6 hours 5. Baytril 22.7 mg/ml 0.25 ml IM SID Prognosis: Guarded SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to severe jaw infection 1088
