I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 05/16/2017 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

Alex A1112158 is at risk due to behavior – Was fractious during intake, but appeared to be in heat some time during assessment. She may not be in heat anymore and is displaying distance-increasing behaviors now. She continues to tolerate gentle petting, but would flinch, hiss and growl loudly.

Ventral midline incision. Edematous uterus. Pedicle ties for ovarian aa, mod millers for uterine aa. Abd wall closure via cruciates, SQ and intradermal closure via simple cont. 3-0 PDS used. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision Sedatives-DexDom-0.03ml/Ketamine-0.06ml/Buporph Inj-0.06- All were given IM Pain management-Simadol-0.45ml and Onsior0.34ml- Both given IM No reversal administered. RX:Onsior 0.34mL SID X 3 days.(For Pain management).

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Talkative CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Affectionate MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 5/16/17- Observed Behavior – okay in box, sniffed hand, some hissing. Netted, then striking, trying to bite ENRICHMENT NOTES: 5/17/17- Came to the front on approach, soft meowing. Started rubbing against the bars. Leaned and arched enthusiastically into pets, rolled over. Very energetic, seems likely to overstimulate easily. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Alex immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Alex remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Alex head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to being picked up: Allows the pickup then calmly walked back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: **The cat’s behavior in kennel earned her a Beginner rating however, she seems to be in heat at the time of assessment, and the behavior presented at the time of evaluation may differ when the heat cycle is complete due to a change in hormonal balance. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
