***SAFE 07/28/16*** They say lightning never strikes twice in the same place, but science has shown that’s a load of codswallop. And the ACC KILL LIST has shown bad things can happen to the same cat twice–meet ADRIAN, a perfectly charming boy who was FIRST taken to the ACC by someone who was supposedly moving somewhere he was unwelcome. That was last year, and ADRIAN was fortunate to have been adopted before the ACC could kill him….but fast forward to TONIGHT, and it’s DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN! Yes, ADRIAN has been let down by his most recent owner in the EXACT SAME WAY, taken back to the ACC because that person was also, supposedly, moving somewhere that ADRIAN could not go. RIDICULOUS! The ACC plans to kill ADRIAN and 44 other cats tomorrow, which is a huge goal to set for itself, and they’re also counting on being able to kill some dogs. That means they’re going to start the death march promptly at NOON and ADRIAN could be the first one the euth technician grabs! Don’t let this good boy suffer an awful death at the ACC! Find a FOSTER or ADOPTER for him tonight!

As per previous owner, Adrian has not been around children to know his behavior with them. He is relaxed and playful around the other four cats he lives with. He has not been around dogs to know his behavior with them. He is kept indoors and has a high activity level. Adrian is describeed as shy, mellow, fearful, affectionate, and quiet. Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Adrian and at the time he was meowing softly when approached but seemed unsure. Adrian was clicker trained for a bit and responded well with tuna. Adrian allows all petting and slowly warms up. Adrian warms up and lifts tail as he leans in slightly. Reaction to assessor: Adrian does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Adrian does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Adrian remains motionless Reaction to touch: Adrian allows petting and attention with a slow approach Try picking cat up: Adrian is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Adrian was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
9/25 update: After nearly two weeks in the care center, Adrian is not thriving in the kennel environment. When approached in the adoptions room he is crouched in his litterbox, ears lowered. He does not relax when the door is opened or when the assessor initiates interaction. He also does not escalate to a hiss or swat. His profile describes a social and affectionate cat, so he remains appropriate for an adopter with an average amount of cat experience, but we feel it is in Adrian’s best interest to move into a stable home environment as quickly as possible. 9/16 eval: Owner Profile: Adrian was bought into the care center due to his previous owner moving to a home that does not allow pets.
