09/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Adidas came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Adidas was nervous but allowed handling. Reaction to assessor: Adidas was in the cubby and does not approach assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Adidas does not come to the front and remains at the back of the cage with eyes dilated. Reaction to cage door opening: Adidas becomes tense, starts lip licking. Reaction to touch: Adidas moved away from assessor to avoid being touched at first but then leaned into hand. Reaction to pick up: Adidas becomes a little tense, but allowed handling. Behavior Determination: Experienced Adidas appears a bit fearful, but allows petting and some handling. Adidas is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents who can allow her to adjust at her own pace. 9/19 update: Adidas does not appear to be thriving in the busy shelter environment. When approached, she may hiss and growl, and may retreat when visitors try to interact. It is in her best interest to move into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
