11/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zumba’s previous owner reports he is unbothered by strangers and is tolerant when they pet him. He has not been exposed to children, but played gently with the adults he lived with. He has lived with other cats and small breed dogs, getting along with all of them. He is tolerant of having his coat brushed, but may give a struggle when taking him out of a carrier. He was described as a mellow and friendly cat, with a medium activity level. He tends to follow the owner around at home and enjoys playing with mice toys and balls. Reaction to assessor: Zumba was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Zumba wakes and looks at the assessor, slowly taking one of his extended paws and placing it closer to his body. He meows softly afterwards. Reaction to cage door opening: Zumba watches at the door opens, remaining calm. Reaction to touch: Zumba was hesitant of contact and shifts away as the assessor extends their hand, meowing a little louder, but the meow is still very soft. He blinks and lip licks, but allows the assessor to pet him gently on his head and body. His body lies flat and he appears very uncomfortable and fearful. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Zumba tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
