For a new family to know: The owner describes Zion shy and fearful cat with a medium activity level. Zion has played with rubber ball and string cat toys; he lives mostly indoors and sleeps anywhere in the house that he wants. In the home Zion will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Zion eats name brand dry cat food and is open feed. He is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Zion has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if he will use it or not. Grumbles on approach, but seemed to calm and become quieter in response to slow blinks. 4/20/17- Still very tense, keeps posture low, eyes dilated. Started hissing and growling on approach. Will come slowly forward for treats, but still sometimes swats between bars. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Zion looks tense, sitting upright by the front of the cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Zion becomes alert with eyes wide open and slowly retreats to the back. Reaction to touch: Zion seems shy and slowly sniffs the assessor’s hand. He began to chirp when attempting to pet and curious with eyes wandering, but would not allow the touch. Zion would then pat the assessor’s hand and slowly retreat while remaining focus with sudden movement. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
