Hello, my name is Zeku. My animal id is #19961. I am a female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 04-Feb-2018.
Zeku is at risk for medical reasons. Zeku has ringworm, which is contagious both to other animals and to people. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Zeku, whom we believe would be suitable for most homes.

Follow up care at your regular veterinarian is recommended to ensure continued treatment. Your veterinarian will advise you if surgical sterilization is appropriate.

Scanned negative; MC placed during LVT exam History : Stray, no health hx available Subjective: Alert, at back of kennel Observed Behavior – Settles on exam table and rests during exam. Allows all handling. Evidence of Cruelty seen – None Evidence of Trauma seen – None Objective BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 6/9 EENT: Alopecia and crusting skin on bridge of nose and both lateral ear pinnae. Eyes clear, ear canals clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted. Oral Exam: Clean teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female, no spay scar palpable, presumed intact MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted. Seborrhea sicca. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Wood’s lamp – the skin of the alopecic areas did fluoresce in a miliary pattern but no hairs fluoresced. Assessment: 1. Possible ringworm Prognosis: Fair Plan: 1. Start DTM culture 2. Move to isolation 3. Itrafungol 1.3 ml PO SID x21 days 4. Lime dip twice weekly SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to possible ringworm

Zeku was stiff bodied during intake. He allowed me to collar and pick him up. He was purring when I picked him up and kept his body low to the ground when I placed him down to take his picture and was trying to run away.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Zeku was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 2/5/18 Observed Behavior – Settles on exam table and rests during exam. Allows all handling.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 2/5/18 Resting on bedding in main compartment, wide-eyed, looking around. Lay in place when door opened, then startled from room noise and became tense. Allowed and slowly leaned into pets, purred, remained alert. Posture softened again once room quieted. 2/6/18 Small improvement! Moved to iso. Resting at back, eyes dilated, seemed a little unsure. Lay in place when door opened. Allowed, then leaned into pets, extended neck for throat scratches, closed eyes. Stood and came slightly forward after door closed, ate offered treats. Doing much better in quieter room. 2/7/18 Crouched position in her litter box, alert with eyes wide open. She accepts the touch and stands with tail up, soliciting attention. She head rubs the hand then walks over to the other side of the cage to eat her food.

Reaction to assessor:: Zeku remains neutral, crouched position in her litter box during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Zeku becomes alert with eyes wide open and pupils dilated.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Zeku remains immobile in place, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Zeku stands with tail high, loose body, and becomes curious while slowly sniffing the assessor’s hand. She solicits attention, purrs while accepting the touch, and appreciates the interaction.
Reaction to being picked up:: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
