***SAFE 09/01/16***Yari is a 3 year old gray domestic tabby surrendered to the ACC due to her former owner moving away. Seems like she was just as valuable as an old couch, comfortable but not needed anymore. Now that she’s in the ACC’s “care center,” she must now fear for her life because of her top placement on the TBD list. She’s a little reserved and not to happy about the assessor expecting her to be all cheery and cooperative. Please consider giving this gray beauty a chance at happiness by applying to adopt or foster her tonight!

08/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owners, Yari is shy around strangers for a short amount of time. She lived with one adult and was gentle, relaxed and playful with him. She’s never lived with another cat or dog and was never picked up or held. Her owner describes her as friendly with a high activity level and she enjoys playing with her toy balls. Reaction to assessor: Yari was resting on her blanket at the front of the kennel with wide, dilated eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Yari backs away slowly, curls up tight and hisses at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Yari remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Yari hisses with her ears bent flat when you extend your hand out to make contact. She low growls and flinches when touched. Her body is stiff/ tense and she tolerates petting briefly before shifting away. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Yari tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
