YANKEE – A1091160
Gone - 9-28-2016 Manhattan
***GONE 09/28/16*** YANKEE HAS BEEN DUMPED WITH 11 OTHER CATS DUE TO HOARDING! It seems as if the 4 year olds previous owner were trying to emulate the real YANKEES, PLUS TWO MORE TO SPARE! Likely one of the reasons for “HOARDING” are due to this guy NOT BEING NEUTERED! He’s very fearful of strangers but it just may be the “strangers” at the ACC that really rubs YANKEE the wrong way! So they punished him with a RESCUE ONLY rating and now it’s up to you to take his life into your hands! Contact a New Hope rescue, offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT YANKEE AND PERHAPS A FEW OF HIS HOUSEMATES, SO HE CAN REALLY FEEL AT HOME!
My name is YANKEE. My Animal ID # is A1091160.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Yankee was brought in without information on his behavioral tendencies in a home environment. He lived in a home with 11 other cats and does not appear to be well socialized with people. His finder reports he attempted to flee. He was very tense and nervous during his initial medical exam, also attempting to flee. Reaction to assessor: Yankee was hiding inside a den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Yankee does not respond. Reaction to cage door opening: Yankee shifts around slightly inside his den. Reaction to touch: The assessor shifts his den around to get a better look at him, and he squeezes by the back and is stiff and alert with dilated eyes. He lip licks and shifts away to avoid contact when hand was extended. He flinches when touched and attempts to flee after. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Yankee is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
