I came into the shelter as a stray on 07-Dec-2017.

Xena is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. She will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no behavior concerns for Xena at this time, average determination.

Follow up care at your regular veterinarian is recommended to ensure continued treatment. Your veterinarian will advise you if surgical sterilization is appropriate.
[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: approx. 6 yo based on dentition Microchip noted on Intake? neg History : stray Subjective: BAR, nervous/tense but friendly and good for PE and medical handling Observed Behavior – Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective T = P = wnl R = eup BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, AU black/brown ceruminous debris, no nasal or ocular discharge noted. No palpable thyroid slip. Oral Exam: moderate dental disease esp with upper molars, missing several teeth, fractured 204 PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, Grade III-IV/VI left systolic HM, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, thickened intestines, firm stool U/G: FI, no spay scar seen (shaved), no MGTs, no vulvar discharge MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat, overgrown nails almost extending into paw pads CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment: approx. 6yo FI DSH Heart murmur dental disease chin acne overgrown and thick nails Prognosis: good Plan: cbc/chem/t4 cleaned ears and chin acne nail trim ctm in MACC until transfer/adoption recommend dental and echo once placed SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to HM
Unremarkable low MCV 35.7 (35.9-53.1) high Glob 5.6 (2.8-5.1) — likely related to chin acne and DD TT4 wnl 1.5 (0.8-4.7)
S/O -QAR, docile and affectionate, very sweet! -mild appetite with dry food -mm pk, sl tacky; CRT <2 sec; dental disease -sneezing, serous nasal discharge and congestion -slight open mouth breathing, appears secondary to congestion -eupnic, purring loudly, difficult to auscultate; heart murmur noted on intake A 1. URI 2. Open mouth breathing, suspect due to congestion but does have heart murmur 3. Dental disease P move to isolation doxycycline 0.7 ml SQ SID x 10 days cerenia 0.3 ml SQ SID x 3 days nebulize BID x 4 days monitor breathing closely, if any concerns, then rec’d CXR to r/o CHF
Diagnosed with URI yesterday, had severe congestion; started on doxycycline, cerenia and nebulization; heart murmur noted on intake S/O -QAR -no appetite -intermittent open mouth breathing due to nasal congestion -mucoid nasal discharge -OU: mild blepharospasm -eupnic, quiet lung sounds -no heart murmur noted today A 1. URI, severe congestion 2. Heart murmur noted on intake, not heard today P dexamethasone SP 4 mg/ml: 0.25 ml SQ tonight CWCT CTM appetite, energy level, etc
Recheck severe nasal congestion: p is QAR but perked up during PE, purring, and rolling on back. Food in trays appears to have been eaten a bit. – Bilateral mucopurulent nasal discharge, but not causing a plug. Mild upper airway congestion heard. – H/L wnl. Previously ausculted HM not appreciated today. – Open mouth breathing. Normal RR/RE. Unsure how much is related to p’s URI vs p’s severe dental disease – Euhydrated P: – cont doxycycline, until 12/22 – cont nebulization, until 12/19 – last dose of cerenia today – received dex SP once yesterday – Give mirtazipine 3.75mg PO once today. If appetite not improved tomorrow, then give 1.875mg PO SID x 3 days or until appetite improved. – start simbadol 0.45mL SQ SID x 4 days, in case open mouth breathing/dec appetite is related to pain from DD – Recheck tomorrow
