SAFE 5/25/18 Poor little Wonder Woman is a 2 month old kitten who was “bred at home” and has a URI that is not resolving. So rather than taking to the vet, her owner dumped her in the shelter. She is a bit emaciated and also has conjunctivitis. This little kitten will need some vet care and TLC.

DVM Intake Exam
Estimated age: Reported approx 8 weeks. Exam is consistent with 6-8 weeks.

History : Surrendered, bred at home, 1 littermate. Approx 2 months old. Has had URI that isn’t resolving.
Subjective: Alert, huddled in litter box, mild tachypnea
Observed Behavior – Allows all handling, leans into examiner.
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – None
BAR, MMs pale pink and moist, BCS 3/9
EENT: OU crusty discharge at medial canthus, conjunctival hyperemia, epiphora. AU layers of flaky skin in canals, minimal discharge. Minimal serous nasal discharge.
Oral Exam: Deciduous teeth appear thin and translucent. Right mandibular I3 – gingival recession and root is visible.
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Soft, tucked up, not distended, non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Female intact kitten
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
1. URI and conjunctivitis
2. Otitis – suspected ear mites
1. Cleaned face, ears and eyes during exam, instilled Tresaderm AU
2. Administered 10 ml warmed LRS SQ during exam
3. Tresaderm AU BID x10 days, clean ears GENTLY every 4 days x3 cleanings
4. Doxycycline 0.1 ml PO SID x10 days
5. Erythromycin OU BID x10 days
6. Tempt to eat
