History : Stray, no health hx available except that after pt was found, she has had several episodes of bloody diarrhea
Subjective: Alert, at back of feral den, hiding head
Observed Behavior – When pt was removed from feral den, she ran away and hid in a corner. She was caught with a towel and once restrained with the towel, she did not try to get away again.
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – None
Objective
BAR, estimated 5% dehydrated based on decreased skin turgor. Pink MMs. BCS 2/9.
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, scant SND.
Oral Exam: Severe tartar, gingivitis, bloody gingiva, gingival recession, halitosis.
PLN: No significant enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Soft, non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Female, no SS palpated, presumed intact
MSI: Small amount of diarrhea on tail and hocks. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally.
Parvo test – negative
FeLV/FIV negative
Assessment:
1. Severe dental disease
2. Diarrhea – R/O GI parasites vs. dietary indiscretion vs. IBD vs. other cause
3. Dehydration – secondary to diarrhea
4. Mild URI – likely viral
5. Emaciated – R/O chronic diarrhea
Prognosis: Fair
Plan:
1. Administered 1 tablet of Drontal Plus for Cats and Kittens during exam
2. Administered 200 ml LRS SQ during exam
3. Move to isolation
4. Metronidazole 0.6 ml PO BID x 5 days
5. Monitor hydration and diarrhea
6. Recommend dental cleaning and rads, likely extractions needed
