KNOWN HISTORY: Winter was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She appeared and nervous during intake, but allowed light petting on her paws. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – nervous but tolerated exam EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: Winter is relaxing in her litter box, eye wide. Reaction when softly spoken to: Winter gets a bit tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Winter continues to appear tense and nervous. Reaction to touch: Winter allows petting on her back, still tense. Reaction to being picked up: did not attempt. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cannot assess VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Winter tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to her stress levels in the care center, we recommend any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
