Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/21/17- Subjective: Hissing during exam and very tense/ trying to escape ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/21/17 Curled up with sibling in litter box, eyes dilated, very tense posture. Started hissing when door opened. Hissed, spat, and struck assess-a-hand when first touched, then held still and tolerated further pets. Remained tense and hissing throughout interaction. Trembling? EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: William remains tense, crouched position at the back of the cage. Reaction to cage door opening: William stiffens up, alert with eyes dilated, and ears flat turned sideways. Reaction to touch: William began to hiss and distance increase towards the other side of the cage and when touched he stiffens with no further interest. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: William tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
