Hello, my name is Whiskey. My animal id is #11502. I am a desexed female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 02-Nov-2017.
Whiskey is at risk due to being diagnosed with and Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Whiskey will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no know behavior concerns for Whiskey at this time (average determination).

Anesthesia Report: Pre-medication: 0.09 mL dexdomitor, 0.04 mL butorphanol, 0.45 mL ketamine. 0.6 mL Simbadol and 0.45 mL Robenacoxib given SQ during prep for pain management.
Presurgical exam – visual exam due to behavior/fractious BAR BCS 5/9 – no c/s v/d observed/reported – amb x 4 Under sedation EENT: clean/clear, nsf Oral Exam: nsf PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupneic; nsf ABD: soft abdomen, no masses palpated U/G: abdomen shaved and abdominal scar present, ~ 3 cm in length w/no mammary development – r/o spay scar vs other MSI: skin free of parasites, no masses noted, clean coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed A: spay/abdominal scar observed, no tattoo P: left ear-tipping performed + vaccination/intake services

Details on my behavior are…
Whiskey had a relaxed body posture. She came out of the carrier willingly and allowed all handling. Her eyes were constricted and her tail was relaxed and behind her. She was not interested in food. She went back inside the carrier on her own.

Basic Information:: Whiskey is a calico and white domestic short hair female cat. She is approximately 2 years. She arrived to MACC as a stray with no previous owner information.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Whiskey was brought in as a stray so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. During intake, Whiskey had a relaxed body posture. She came out of the carrier willingly and allowed all handling.
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/05/17 Whiskey was just moved to adoptions. She wrapped herself in her blanket like a burrito, but pokes her head forward when coaxed. She seems interested in interacting, but will retreat inside her burrito when there is movement in the room. She allows petting and leans in for cheek and chin rubs, but is grumbling at the same time. Her grumbles does not appear to be distance-increasing; she may just need time to settle into her new kennel.

Reaction to assessor:: Whiskey is resting in her cubby on approach, looks at the assessor with soft eyes and body.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Whiskey comes out to the main compartment and begins to rub against the bars.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Whiskey remains calm and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Whiskey leans and arches into the stroke and begins to purr.
Reaction to being picked up:: Whiskey sits calmly in the assessor’s arms.
