08/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Virginia was brought in without information on his behavioral tendencies in a home environment. He was very nervous and tense during his initial medical exam, trying to swat in an attempt to avoid restraint. Reaction to assessor: Virginia was calm, lying down with his paws tucked underneath his body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Virginia looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Virginia slowly gets up and becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Virginia sniffs the assessor’s hand, but tries to shift away to avoid contact. He allows gentle petting on his head and body, but his ears tilt sideways and he lip licks. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Virginia tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
