PASSED AWAY 5/16/17 Very Sweet Emaciated Brown Tabby With URI — VEGAS – NEEDS YOU AT BACC! Poor Vegas was brought to the shelter as a stray. He is 10 years old and not feeling well. Vegas has a URI, is emaciated and dehydrated and his eyes are sunken in. This boy needs some good TLC and food to help him get well. If you would like to help Vegas, he is at BACC.

Subjective: Observed Behavior – Friendly, social, allows all handling. Evidence of Cruelty seen – No. Evidence of Trauma seen – No. Objective: BAR. mm=pink, tacky, CRT<2 s. HR=180, RR=24. BCS=2/9. ORAL: Mild to mod. calculus, gingivitis. Gingival recession around Max canine teeth. EENT: OU – eyes sunken. Mod. nasal congestion, seromucoid discharge and crusting. AU – mod. dark brown debris, pruruitis. Pinna scarred AD. PLN: No enlargements noted. H/L: Lungs clear, no murmurs/arrhythmias. ABD: Non painful, no masses/organomegaly palpated. U/G: Intact male, both testicles palpable. MS: Ambulatory x 4, mod. generalized muscle wasting. INTEG: Dry, unkempt haircoat. Mod. decreased skin turgor. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities. A: Approx. 10 yr old cat with otitis/ear mites, URI, emaciation, and dehydration. P: 100 ml LRS SQ. Continue q 24 hours x 3 more days. Rx Doxycycline 50 mg/ml 0.6 ml PO q 24 hours x 10 days. First dose given. Nebulize BID x 3 days. Applied Revolution. House in isolation. Permanent waiver from neuter surgery due to age.

Vegas was puring, had a lose body and was rubbing up on the counselor. He allowed all handling and also allowed the counselor to take his picture with no problems.
