**SAFE 08/06/16** EXOTIC VASILISA IS AN INDEPENDENT LADY…….This 4 year old, cream and gray Himalayan got along with her owner but not the owner’s child. So instead of taking the time to find a home, VASILISA got the quick trip to the ACC dumping ground. VASILISA is in immediate need of an understanding home tonight!! We don’t know why VASILISA had problems with the owner’s child and we are sure there is much that has not been said or admitted…..IF YOU CAN GIVE VASILISA the time and patience she needs to adjust and be happy in a new home, please contact A NEW HOPE RESCUE now!! 07/30/16 16:11 Basic Information: Vasilisa is a 4 year old female Cream & Gray Himalayan that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Vasilisa since she was a kitten and received her from a friend. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers, Vasilisa prefers not to interact with people she does not know. She can be fearful which can turn to aggression when around strangers. Around adults, Vasilisa is respectful and relaxed and plays in a gentle manner. Around children, Vasilisa is aggressive and non-tolerant of child’s presence. She does not want to interact with child and shows this by hissing and growling. She has never been around other cats or dogs so her behavior is unknown. She has never bitten a person or another animal before. Behavior: Previous owners stated that Vasilisa does not have any other behavioral issues besides not being accepting of her children. For a New Family to Know: Vasilisa is described as friendly and affectionate with a medium activity level. When in the home, Vasilisa is the type to be in her favorite spots and only seeks attention from owner when she felt like it. She was kept indoors and is litter box trained. Vasilisa used an uncovered litter box and clay litter. She was fed dry food and wet cat food. Vasilisa also used a scratching post made of carpet.

Vasilisa came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who described her as fearful of strangers and children, but friendly and affectionate to her owner. Reaction to assessor: Vasilisa is sitting atop her den, body neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Vasilisa looks at assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Vasilisa leans forward to sniff the assessor. Reaction to touch: Vasilisa hisses, growls, shifts away from petting, then strikes at the assessor. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Vasilisa does not approach the assessor and does not allow handling. Vasilisa is exhibiting behavior suited to rescue partners who will be able to find appropriate placement for her.
