**SAFE 04/21/16** VULNERABLE! VAMPS and BOLT are nice looking young guys who were brought to the ACC as strays. The shelter photographs don’t flatter either cat, but poor Bolt looks like he has had a harder time of it than Vamps has, wherever these guys had been prior to their shelter intake. Because they are scared out of their minds, neither cat has tried to become BFFs with the shelter staff, so of course that means they are both New Hope rated. New Hope rescues need people to serve as foster/adoptive parents, so message the Urgent PODR Help Desk if you want to know how to help Vamps and Bolt out in that way. No matter what, please advocate widely for them both, tonight!

04/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Vamps was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He allowed limited handling upon intake and became defensive to handling during his initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Vamps was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Vamps becomes stiff and alert, and crouches over by the back. Reaction to cage door opening: Vamps remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Vamps remains tense and his eyes wander as the assessor extends their hand. He does not allow touch; he hisses and swats the assessor’s hand. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Vamps is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
