Seven year old TYGA…who’s lived peacefully with kids … was surrendered by his owner because he said he could no longer keep his cat. TYGA has a prominent lower jaw and owner says has always been that way. TYGA has severe dental issues and several teeth fell out upon exam. This boy needs xrays of his jaw and follow up dental care. When you foster, all reasonable medical expenses are covered by a rescue. So don’t hesitate to help this deserving boy. He only has tonight. He only has YOU!!!

Hello, my name is Tyga. My animal id is #11027. I am a desexed male gray tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 6 years 10 months 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 28-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Tyga is at risk due to severe dental disease and thickened rostral mandible which will require a dental readiographs of jaw to determine further treatment plan. There are no behavior concerns for Tyga at this time.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 7 years Microchip noted on Intake? No History : O/S – can no longer keep cat. Indicated at admissions that he always had a prominent lower jaw. has been to the vet in the past few years Subjective: BARH Observed Behavior – Calm, allows all handling, friendly, social Evidence of Cruelty seen – No Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective T = P = 180 R = 28 BCS = 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Very thickened rostral mandible that owner reports has always been that way. Severe dental disease, many loose teeth, the back upper molars actually fell out during probing. Loosed lower canines. The rostral mandible is not painful and has regular margins. missing lower incisors and some upper incisors as well as several other teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Neutered Male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Assessment Severe dental disease Thickened rostral mandible – r/o congenital versus neoplasia Prognosis: Fair Plan: Needs dental and would recommend radiographs of jaw. Will start Clindamycin 75 mg SID x 7
Severe dental disease. Start Simbadol 0.6 ml SQ SID x10 days. 1088
Recheck on rounds, presented with severe dental disease and thickened mandible; placed on clindamycin S/O -QAR, hiding in back of kennel -no obvious appetite -mm pk, moist; does not allow oral exam -mild hypersalivation with dried crusting saliva around mouth A Dental disease, mandibular hyperplasia? P simbadol 0.5 ml SQ SID x 5 days rec’d dental radiographs after placement

Upon intake Tyga allowed all handling. He was receptive to head touches and was purring however when attempting to collar and remove from the carrier he remained to the back of the carrier and became tense. No further handling was performed to reduce stress.

Basic Information:: Tyga is a 7 year old cat whom was found as a stray and kept in the same home for 7 years, Unfortunately due to moving to a no pets allowed apartment he could not be kept.

How is this cat around strangers?: Around strangers Tyga is known to be shy for a few minutes and plays gentle.
How is this cat around children?: Around children he is known to be relaxed and plays gentle with them.
How is this cat around other cats?: He has been socialized with one cat and was known to be respectful and played gentle with him
How is this cat around dogs?: He has been socialized with one large dog and was known to be fearful.
Behavior Notes: This cat is known to be scratch furniture and meow during car rides. He has never had a bath or had his nails trimmed, enjoys being picked up and held and being petted but struggles to go into a carrier.
Bite history:: This cat has no known previous bite or scratch histories.

For a New Family to Know: He is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, independent and quiet. He will follow you around when home with you, liked to play with wand toys, chasing toys, balls and catnip toys. He has been kept indoors only, ate friskies dry food 2 times a day and is considered very litter box trained. He prefers a hooded litter box with Tidy cat or fresh step litter and prefers a scratching post made of rough rope or carpet.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – Calm, allows all handling, friendly, social
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Seems rundown. Lay in place when door opened. Allowed, then started to lean and arch into pets and purred. Very sweet, but doesn’t seem to be feeling well.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Tyga remains tense, sitting upright at the back of his cage cubby.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Tyga remains immobile in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Tyga stiffens up, eyes wide open, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Tyga sniffs and slowly engages to lean into the assessor’s hand.
Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back
VOCAL:: Quiet
