06/20/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/18/17- Observed Behavior – Nervous, tries to flee ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/18/17- Resting in litter box, became alert on approach, tense posture, eyes dilated. Started hissing when door opened, retreated to back corner. Hissing progressed to crying when pet, but eventually quieted entirely and actually leaned into cheek and throat rubs! Wouldn’t leave corner. Lay down and returned slow blink after door closed. 6/19/17- Improving! Asleep on kuranda bed, woke when door opened. Retreated and started hissing, then ate treats when left alone. Cried when first touched, then gradually warmed up, leaned and arched into pets, and purred! Became frantic when picked up, fled to litter box when returned to cage, but resumed leaning and purring when pet for a while. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Twista remains tense body, tucked limbs during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Twista slowly retreats to the back, alert with eyes dilated and attempts to hide. Reaction to touch: Twista hisses then turns his head away from the assessor’s hand but when touched he stiffens up and stress meows in place. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Twista may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
