10/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Tweety and reports that she was hiding in her litter box with her ears pulled back, wide eyes and wasn’t open to interaction. She keeps to the back, seems uncomfortable and needs more time to adjust. Reaction to assessor: Tweety was curled up inside his litter box at the back of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tweety flattens her ears, has wide eyes focused on the assessor, and remains motionless and doesn’t come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Tweety leans back and becomes alert. Reaction to touch: Tweety keeps her body low, hissed then lip licked when the assessor approached and leaned away from contact. Her body is tense, she seems uncomfortable, looks around wary of her surroundings and doesn’t seem interested in interacting witht the assessor. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Tweety is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
