I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/25/2017 from NY 10309, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-102108.

06/25/17 16:48 Animal’s appearance -Kitten appeared clean and of healthy weight. Animal’s demeanor with you – Kitten was nervous and timid but allowed handling. Kitten was attempting to flee once placed in a den. Client stated that he had been feeding strays in his yard for a very long time. However, he is contemplating on moving and he does not want to leave the cats behind. This kitten he was able to catch and handle by hand; placing him into a carrier and then brought them to SIACC.

KNOWN HISTORY: Tweed was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. He was nervous during intake, but allowed handling to be conducted. He attempted to flee once placed into a carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Allowed all handling but will hiss often EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Tweed becomes alert upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tweed focuses on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Tweed shifts toward the back on his kennel and lowers his body. Reaction to touch: Tweed flinches, but he tolerates petting. He would roll on his side and curl up into a ball while attempting to shift away with a ducked head. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Henderson tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
