TUXEDO – A1073996

***SAFE 05/22/16***The ACC can think of 3 reasons for a 3-year-old girl like TUXEDO to be generously-proportioned, and they have recorded all 3 of those ideas in her medical notes. “RULE OVERWEIGHT VS PREGNANT VS RECENT QUEENING.” So, they don’t know if she is pregnant, recently had a litter of kittens, or if she’s simply overweight….and they are dealing with that uncertainty by simply deciding to kill her tomorrow. Death, they understand; it’s the complicated, living animals who stump them. Tuxedo earned a nice EXPERIENCE rating from the ACC but they have her as rescue-only, so any foster/adopter will need to work with a NEW HOPE RESCUE group tonight, to save her life. Please help her! Tuxedo deserves so much better than what they have planned for her, tomorrow…..

05/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Tuxedo and at the time she had a tense body at the back of the cage. Tuxedo was nervous and started lip licking. Tuxedo allows petting all over but is noticeably uncomfortable. Tuxedo lifts head up and focuses on hand when touched on body. Reaction to assessor: Tuxedo was hiding when I approach cage When spoken quietly: Tuxedo continues to hide Reaction to door cage opening:Tuxedo remains motionless Reaction to touch: Tuxedo allowed pettiing all over but was tense Try picking cat up: Tuxedo allows handling but becomes tense Behavior Determination: Experience Tuxedo was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying timid behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick her up and although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
