History : Stray, abandoned outside the shelter this morning
Subjective: Alert, curious, looks around
Observed Behavior – Allows full exam but evades vaccines and yowls/kicks for blood draw
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – Superficial wounds to L and R side of neck
Objective
BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 5/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Clean adult teeth – all are erupted
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Soft, not distended, non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: Female, no SS palpated
MSI: Oval superficial wounds on the L and R lateral aspects of the neck – approximately 2 cm dia, mild moist discharge, no erythema or swelling. Otherwise healthy hair coat. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Assessment: Superficial wounds on L and R sides of the neck – no sign of infection.
Prognosis: Good
Plan:
1. Removed ID collar to prevent it from rubbing on pt’s wounds
2. Clean wounds daily with chlorhexidine and monitor their healing
3. Spay, adopt
