***SAFE 04/14/2016*** People never cease to amaze! Poor TRIXIE was RETURNED after only 2 weeks for ” attacking people .” Well, for starters, the ALREADY SPAYED girl was basically by herself, never really got the chance to socialize. So when the cat would swipe at the young children, the family returned her. Young children NEED to be watched around pets…especially new pets that are from the streets and not much know about their background! Plus, JUST 2 weeks is hardly time to get kids used to not poking, toying with or squeezing a cat! An EXPERIENCED hand with NO kids is what she NEEDS! Offer to FOSTER or ADOPT TRIXIE and this time give it some time. Don’t expect a MIRACLE from a shelter pet!

04/09/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/09/16 16:39hrs Trixie is described as reserved, fickle and solitary. She was cared for by her adopter for two weeks and lived with children aged 4, 7 and 8 years old. She was sometimes tolerant of the children. She would allow them to approach her but they would have to extend thier hand and allow her to sniff them before she would let them pet her. If she didn’t want to be bothered she would swipe at thier hands or nip thier hands. She has not broken skin or drew blood in the past 10 days. BEHAVIOR Trixie spent most of her time resting out of the way of the family. She would allow her adopter to pet her but would attempt to escape if picked up. Trixie woud meow and follow her adopter around when she wanted attention. Her adopter noted that she would pounce onto the childrens legs when they passed her, where she would hold onto thier legs with her claws out. She also displayed erratic behavior where she would be sitting calmly near the children or her adopter and suddendly jump up and swipe at thier legs or arms. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW She enjoyed playing with stuffed toys and feather toys on her own. She would use an uncovered litter box. Trixie was provided a cardboard and carpeted scratching post but would rarely use it. She enjoyed sitting on the furniture but wouldn’t scratch it. She would sleep inside of the bedroom with her adopter or inside of the childrens play tent. DURING INTAKE Trixie remained in the rear of her carrier. She would allow touching but would attempted to get away and return to her carrier. She was collared and scanned for a microchip(positive).

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Trixie is described as reserved, fickle and solitary. She was cared for by her adopter for two weeks and lived with children aged 4, 7 and 8 years old. She was sometimes tolerant of the children. She would allow them to approach her, but they would have to extend thier hand and allow her to sniff them before she would let them pet her. If she didn’t want to be bothered she would swipe at thier hands or nip Reaction to assessor: Trixie looks tense in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Trixie remains standing at the back of the cage, alert with pupils dilated. Reaction to touch: Trixie retreats at first then accepts a stroke, but began to growl at the assessor’s hand and attempts to nip. Placement determination: Experience / no child Trixie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
