*** SAFE 01/07/18 *** Trix is a sweetiepie who was diagnosed with a URI. Trix is a DSH cat that is a brown tabby. Trix was picked up as a kitten when he was just a few month old. Trix is being surrendering due to the owner leaving to another state. Trix is hoping someone is willing to offer him a new home asap.

Hello, my name is Trix. My animal id is #16773. I am a desexed male brown tabby cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 23-Dec-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – out of country.

Trix is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. Trix has been nervous in the care center but allows some petting.

Leaned in, when pet on hind. Evidence of Cruelty seen -no Evidence of Trauma seen -no Objective BCS: 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Mild dental disease (Grade I/IV) PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: MI, Kidneys S+S MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Assessment Young adult MI DSH with: Mild dental tartar Apparently healthy otherwise Prognosis: Excellent Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC SURGERY: Okay for surgery

URI noted on rounds S/O: BAR. Eating well. Attention seeking EENT: Eyes clear, serous nasal discharge HL: Sneezing, sneeze marks, normal RR/RE INTEG: Full healthy coat MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Neutered A: URI P: Rec doxycycline 0.7ml PO q24 x 10 days. Excellent prognosis

Basic Information:: Trix is a DSH cat that is a brown tabby that is 2 year old. Trix was picked up as a kitten when he was just a few month old. Trix is being surrendering due to the owner leaving to another state.

How is this cat around strangers?: Trix is friendly and playful around strangers. He approach and rub. He does not like to be picked up and he struggles away.
How is this cat around children?: Trix has never lived with children.
How is this cat around other cats?: Trix has lived with a spayed female cat. They live in harmony and loves lounging around with the other cat.
How is this cat around dogs?: Trix has never been around dogs.
Behavior Notes: Trix has never been bathed nor had his nails trimmed. Trix enjoys is coat brushed but struggles going into to the carrier. He always uses his uncover litter box.
Bite history:: Has never had a bite history.
Energy level/descriptors:: medium level
For a New Family to Know: Trix is described as mellow and friendly. He likes to look out the window and likes to play with the other cat. He does not care for cat toys. Trix favorite activity is to eat large bowl of dry cat food.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/24/17 Crouched in back of kennel, tail tucked beneath body. He tolerates petting along his head and body while raising his eyes to look at me. Begins to rapid breathe and body tenses with continued petting as he shifts his weight. Needs more time to adjust. 12/26/17 Crouched in litter box, ears forward and tail wrapped around body. He tilts his head as I reach towards him and leans in for petting, standing up abruptly and raising his tail as my hand passes along his back. He drops back down into a crouched position and stands up with tail raised half way each time my hand passes along his back. He comes forward with a low body for treats and leans in for more petting. Focused on environment –pauses occasionally to look around the room. Showing improvement – sweet boy. Did well today! 12/27/17 Crouched in the back of the kennel with his ears tilted forward, and tail wrapped at his side. Timid initially, but starts to warm up with attention. He slow blinks then leans forward to sniff my hand. His body feels tense but he accepts gentle petting. He arches his body when touched along his back, tail rises up and he closes his eyes when rubbed on his cheeks. After a few soft passes along his body he builds up confidence and approaches the front of the kennel. 12/28/17 Crouched beneath kuranda bed, tail wrapped around body. He tilts his head towards me as I reach forward and leans in for petting abruptly, raising his rear and tail as my hand passes along his back. He comes forward with continued petting, tail dropping after each pet along the back. He comes right to the front of his kennel and rolls over onto his side, allowing further petting while rolling and scooting all over his kennel. Leans in. Very sweet, warms up once approached. Timid and focused on environment, but focuses back on interaction once pet. Did well today! 01/02/18 Lying beneath kuranda bed, hidden behind towel. He steps out as the cage door opens, tail raised eyes soft, and allows petting along his head and body while leaning in. He steps to the front of his cage and allows all petting for the remainder of the session. Doing great – he now approaches me and solicits attention. Timid and friendly – Ok to take off of socialization list!

Reaction to assessor:: Trix was crouched in the back of the kennel with his ears tilted forward, and tail wrapped at his side.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Trix makes eye contact and wouldn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Trix remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Trix slow blinks then slowly leans forward to sniff the assessor’s hand. His body feels tense but he accepts gentle petting and slowly starts to warm up with attention. He arches his body when touched along his back, tail rises up and he closes his eyes when rubbed on his cheeks. After a few soft passes along his body he builds up confidence and approaches the front of the kennel.
