02/07/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Tory was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Tory was lying down and looking around at the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tory leans forward to sniff the assessor then slowly turns his head away. Reaction to cage door opening: Tory remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Tory leans back when approached then slowly closes his eyes when the assessor pets him. He sinks down and lowers his body when rubbed along his back. After a couple soft pets he seems to relax then gently leans in allowing cheek rubs. Reaction to being picked up: Tory was a bit tense when picked up but remained calm and allowed all handling. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 02/06/17 Lying right at front of kennel, quiet, relaxed. Right ear is wounded. Stays calm when I open cage door, social cat, appreciates some petting. No reason for him to be in a single cage, easily pick up and move to a double kennel. Quiet when held, easy to place to in new kennel. Sweet, social cat. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Timid but allows handling ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Sweet, Affectionate RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Experienced cat parent BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Experience Tory may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Please note that this cat is being treated for a wound at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior.
