***SAFE 07/15/16***TORREN IS TERRIFIED!! About two years old, TORREN was found wandering in a building. We don’t know how long he has been on his own or if he was lost or abandoned. TORREN IS A CAT WITH POTENTIAL!! Somewhere under that creamy, scared exterior is a shy guy wanting to come out. TORREN is going to need HELP to do that!! He will blossom with an experienced cat purrson who will give him the time and patience that he needs …Since he is NEW HOPE rated, TORREN needs to be pulled by a NEW HOPE rescue. 06/27/16 14:00 Basic Information Torren was brought in as a stray, after being spotted in a client’s building. Torren scratched out of fear once client attempted to grab while fleeing. Behavior during Intake Torren was fractious during intake. Torren growled and hissed when approached. Torren attempted to swat at counselor through client’s box, and scratched counselor’s protective gloved but was unable to connect. No further handling was conducted.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Torren was fractious during intake. Torren growled and hissed when approached. Torren attempted to swat at counselor through client’s box, and scratched counselor’s protective gloved but was unable to connect. No further handling was conducted. Reaction to assessor: Torren meow-whines at the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Torren continues to meow-whine at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Torren remains motionless, continues to meow-whine. Reaction to touch: Torren tolerates the pet, but continues to whine and eventually hisses at the assessor. Behavior Determination: Experienced, no children Torren tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. He may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
