I have a nice plush medium coat with lovely markings.” Tom is another victim of being surrendered to the shelter due to his owner moving. 07/01/17 16:30 Basic: Tom-Tom is a 4 year old male domestic shorthair that the owner bought from a pet store. The owner has had Tom-Tom his whole life, he has no health conditions, he has also never been to a veterinarian. Socialization: Around strangers, Tom-Tom is first very shy then he eventually warms up and comes around to rub himself against their legs. Tom-Tom has lived with a 7 year old and a 10 year old, he plays very gently with them. Tom-Tom does not play with adults. Tom-Tom does not get along with other cats but he is respectful to dogs. Tom-Tom has never bitten or scratched another animal or person. Behavior: Tom-Tom scratches furniture at home if he does not have a scratching post available. When going on a car ride, Tom-Tom is very afraid but he willingly goes in to a carrier. Tom-Tom does not like to take a bath but has never had his nails trimmed. Tom-Tom loves being picked up and put on his lap. For a New Family to Know: Tom-Tom is described as friendly and affectionate with a low energy level. Tom-Tom likes to be in the same room as the owner and when he plays, he loves to play with every kind of cat toy. Tom-Tom has been an indoors only cat. Tom-Tom sleeps in his cat condo. The owner feeds Tom-Tom Rachel Ray Salmon, he is fed 1/2 a cup twice a day. Tom-Tom’s favorite treats are Meow Mix. Tom-Tom is very litterbox trained and uses a hooded litterbox with clumping litter. Upon intake, Tom-Tom allowed being collared, having his picture taken, and being transported into a new carrier. Tom-Tom’s body was centered and his ears were alert.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Sweet KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults and a 7 year old and a 10 year old Behavior toward strangers: first very shy then he eventually warms up and comes around to rub himself against their legs Behavior toward children: plays very gently Behavior toward cats: does not get along Behavior toward dogs: respectful Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: described as friendly and affectionate with a low energy level ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/02/17 Lying down by the back, calm and relaxed. Took a bit to approach the front, but eventually came forward to investigate with some coaxing. He sniffed my hand and head-butted gently. Lifts his rear when stroked along his body, even allowing me to touch his matts. Leans in for cheek rubs and looked around, curious of surroundings. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Tom remains neutral, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Tom remains in place, lifts up head with ears erect and soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Tom engages the front with tail up, head- bunts the assessor’s hand, rolls over, purrs and enjoys petting. Reaction to being picked up: He becomes antsy then calmly walks back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Tom- Tom interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
