I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/13/2016 from NY 11206, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

11/13/16 15:03 Basic Information: Toby is a domestic short hair cat that was brought in as a stray. Socialization: Around strangers Toby is friendly and plays gently with adults and children. Toby has lived with children ages 2 to 3 yrs old. Toby has lived with other cats who he was relaxed and affectionate toward. Toby has never been around dogs so it is unknown how he will react to being around them. Behavior: Toby has never bitten another person or animal and has never been in a car. Toby enjoys being given a bath, being brushed, being picked up/held and doesn’t mind being disturbed while resting/sleeping. Toby’s previous caretaker did not attempt to trim Toby’s nails or place him in a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Toby is described as: friendly, playful, confident and quiet with a very high activity level. When at home Toby will follow around his owner and likes to play with balls, string and stuffed toys. Toby was kept indoors only and was fed both wet and dry food. Toby is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box with litter form the brand Tidy cat. Toby did not use a litter box. Intake Behavior: Toby allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression. Toby enjoyed being pet by staff but became nervous when being picked up.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Toby was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Toby is curious, meows then slowly approaches the front to sniff the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Toby purrs softly and gently rubs up against the kennel door for attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Toby is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Toby purrs softly and leans in when the assessor rubs his on her cheeks. He is very affectionate; giving gently head butts, brushing up for attention and allows petting all over his body. Reaction to being picked up: Toby is calm, relaxed and has a soft body when held. Please note that Toby is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Behavior Determination: Beginner Toby interacts with the assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
